How I locked & unlocked MotoRazr V3i

Posted by admin on April 9, 2011 in MotoRazr V3i, V3i |

I bought a Moto Razr V3i in 2006. One of the most stylish phone I have ever purchased.

I wanted to update the firmware on the mobile and found few sites which offered firmwares and flashing guides. I picked up few and flashed the firmware. Unfortunately, the firmware I flashed was a locked firmware, meaning it does a sim lock. The mobile I have had an unbranded firmware as there is no concept of Sim-Lock in India.

So I want to unlock my mobile (Without paying ofcourse) and was searching the net until I came across http://www.modmymobile.com where there are knowledgeable modders who really helped me in unlocking this.

OK lets get to business

** Below method is without “Test-point”. If you alreday have a TestPoint or Dual boot  search Google MS Tool 8 to unlock your phone **

HW Tools required:

0. MotoRazr v3i (ofcourse) ;)

1. USB Cable

2. Battery fully charged as flashing consumes lots of battery power

3. universal battery charger (Costs 100 RS in India). Very Handy

Note: When the battery is low, its not possible to flash the firmware.

SW required:

1. Motorola Drivers

2. RSLite 4.9.7 – Download link: http://www.filesonic.com/file/568993674/RSD_Lite_4.9.7z

3. Flash&Backup 3.0.9 – Download link: http://www.filesonic.com/file/568993694/Flash&Backup_3.0.9.7z

4. PS2KTools VS 3.0.9.961b – Download link: http://www.filesonic.com/file/568993714/P2KToolsVS_3.0.9.961b.7z

Firmware files:

1. DEV_A1RULpatched.shx- http://www.filesonic.com/file/569012924/DEV_A1RULpatched.shx.rar

2. Unlocking seems - http://www.filesonic.com/file/569012894/devulockingv3i.rar

Make sure to charge the battery to 100% before flashing

Flashing procedures:

1. Install the Motorola Drivers

2. Install RSDLite

3. Connect the phone to the computer via USB cable.

4. Open RSDLite and in few moments the phone will be detected. The tool should show the firmware details of the phone.

5. Select the firmware DEV_A1RULpatched.shx and press “Start” button

6. The firmware flashing will start and the status will be displayed on the screen

7. Once everything is done “PASS” will be displayed on the screen

Unlocking procedures:

1. Extract the devulockingv3i.rar

2. The seem files are HEX content and needs to be flashed to the phone  to reset the lock.

3. Open PS2KTools VS 3.0.9.961b tool and connect the phone in P2K Mode.

4. Click on “Seem”

5. Follow the guide http://www.filesonic.com/file/569101854/Upload_seems.rar on how to upload seems.

6. Phone must be restarted every time after each seem upload

** Voila ** Your phone should be unlocked by now

Warning:

1. Your boot loader should be A.30. IF its A.52 you need to downgrade it

2. This firmware is R47A. If tis R479 or R444 you should not flash this firmware mentioned

Credit goes to original poster. I am only writing the steps which I followed. None of the files are built by me. I only uploaded all the files from various sources

**Flashing should be done at your own risk. I don’t take any responsibility for damages made to your phone**

Posted by admin on March 3, 2011 in Custom Firmware, Nokia |

I manged to flash Nokia C6′s Firmware into Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Detailed steps with pictures will follow.

Feel this firmware is much faster than the Nokia 5800′s firmware. One feature I really like is the “Restart Phone” along with “Switch off”

Posted by karthikk on October 12, 2009 in iPod, Jailbreak |

This is just a short guide on how to jailbreak your iPod1G/2G/3G devices and iPhone1G/2G/3G devices using Blackra1n tool.

Step 1: Upgrade your OS in your iPhone/iPod to OS 3.1.1 or OS 3.1.2
Step 2: Download Blackra1n tool for windows from http://www.blackra1n.com/
Step 3: Connect your device and run the tool.
Step 4: Goto the last page in your iPod/iPhone to find Blackra1n installed. Click on the app
your device is Jailbroken

Personally i have not done this due to lack of time. But this is the procedure which i learn from the forums.
What was missing was a simple read-me file with this tool. This is a great effort from Geohot. You can follow him on twitter @ http://www.twitter.com/Geohot

Addicted to Turok for PS3

Posted by karthikk on September 14, 2009 in PS3 |

Turok was one game which i wanted to play from late 90′s but couldn’t due to inefficiency of the graphics card i have had so far. Finally with my new PS3 I am able to play this wonderful game. Graphic details are way too much for this game. Any RPG lover will soon get addicted to this game!

Turok official website: http://www.turok.eu.com/uk/home.html

I guess it would take at least a month or two to finish this game due to lack of time :-(
